Apprentice Carpenter Jobs in Oxford

Every skilled carpenter started somewhere. At Lynch Brother Homes, we have made it our business to make sure that somewhere is the right environment — one where you are taught properly, supported genuinely and given a real foundation to build a career on. Not just handed a broom and left to figure it out.

We are looking for an apprentice carpenter to join our team across residential projects in Oxford and Oxfordshire. This is a hands-on role working alongside experienced carpenters on live builds, with full training, recognised qualifications and a clear pathway into a skilled carpentry position. If you are serious about learning a trade and want to do it with a company that has proven it invests in its people — this is where to start.

Pay: Based on experience and discussed at interview. Job Type: Full-time Location: Oxford and Oxfordshire — in person

What You Will Be Learning

You will be working across our residential projects — new builds, extensions, loft conversions and refurbishments — gaining practical, hands-on experience at every stage of the build. Under the guidance of our experienced carpenters, you will be developing skills across:

  • First fix carpentry including stud partitioning, joisting, roofing and structural timber work
  • Second fix carpentry including door hanging, skirting, architraves and finishing work
  • Reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
  • Safe and effective use of power tools and hand tools
  • Working within a site team alongside other trades, foremen and project managers
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised working environment
  • Understanding how a well-run residential site operates from the ground up

This is not an apprenticeship where you are left on the periphery. You will be involved in real work on real projects from the start — learning by doing, with experienced people beside you who genuinely want to see you succeed.

What We Expect

You do not need years of experience to join Lynch Brother Homes. What you do need is the right attitude. The right candidate will bring:

  • A genuine interest in carpentry and a desire to learn a skilled trade
  • Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic — the basics matter
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to take direction
  • A positive attitude and the resilience to keep learning even when the work is challenging
  • A valid UK driving licence is desirable but not essential at this stage
  • No formal experience required — what matters is your commitment to developing into a skilled tradesperson

We have always believed that attitude and character matter more than what is on a CV. If you are willing to work hard, listen and push yourself to improve — we will provide everything else.

What You Get in Return

Too many apprenticeships in construction are apprenticeships in name only — cheap labour with no real training, no structure and no pathway at the end of it. We have built something fundamentally different.

Proper training from day one. You will receive all relevant training and work towards recognised qualifications that give you a genuine foundation in the trade. This is not informal, on-the-job-only learning. It is a structured commitment to your development.

Learn from experienced carpenters who care. You will be working alongside skilled tradespeople who take the time to teach properly. Our carpenters understand that investing in the next generation is part of the job — and they take that seriously.

A clear pathway into a full carpentry role. This apprenticeship is designed to lead somewhere. We have built it as the first step of a career at Lynch Brother Homes, not a standalone placement. When you are ready, the progression into a skilled carpentry position is there — and we will have been preparing you for it from the start.

A team that feels like family. From your first day, you are part of the team. Regular team lunches, genuine check-ins and a culture where apprentices are valued and included — not treated as an afterthought. We know that people develop best when they feel they belong, and we make sure you do.

Local projects across Oxfordshire. All of our builds are in and around Oxford. You will not be travelling across the country or spending hours commuting. You can start your career close to home.

This Role Is Right for You If

  • You are serious about learning carpentry and want to do it with a company that will teach you properly
  • You are hardworking, reliable and ready to commit to developing a real skill
  • You want more than a dead-end placement — you want a career path that is clear from the start
  • You are looking for a team that will support you, challenge you and invest in your growth
  • You understand that a trade is built over time and you are ready to put in the work to get there
