Carpenter Jobs in Oxford

Lynch Brother Homes has built its reputation on delivering residential construction across Oxfordshire to a standard that clients trust and come back for, project after project. That standard starts with the people on site — and our carpenters are at the heart of it.

We are looking for a skilled, reliable carpenter to join our team and work across a varied portfolio of residential projects including new builds, home extensions, loft conversions and structural alterations. This is not a role where you will be left to figure things out on your own. You will be joining a well-organised operation with clear programmes, proper materials and a site team that communicates the way it should.

Pay: £180.00–£220.00 per day

What You Will Be Working On

Our projects are residential, local and varied — no two are the same. You will be carrying out all aspects of first and second fix carpentry across sites in Oxford and Oxfordshire, including:

  • Stud partitioning, joisting, roofing, door and window fitting
  • Installation of staircases, skirting, architraves and other finishings
  • Fitting kitchens, wardrobes and custom joinery elements
  • Reading and interpreting architectural drawings and specifications
  • Working closely with site managers, builders and other trades to ensure seamless delivery

Every project is planned and coordinated by our off-site team before you set foot on site. That means clear direction, realistic timelines and none of the reactive chaos that too many carpenters in this industry have come to accept as normal.

What We Expect

We hold ourselves to a high standard at Lynch Brother Homes, and we expect the same from the people who join us. The right candidate will bring:

  • Proven experience as a carpenter in residential construction
  • Strong capability across both first fix and second fix
  • The ability to read and work confidently from construction drawings and plans
  • A genuine eye for detail and a commitment to quality that does not drop when nobody is watching
  • Excellent timekeeping and communication — our sites run on both
  • Own tools and transport preferred

We are not looking for someone who just turns up and goes through the motions. We want a carpenter who takes pride in the finished product, works well within a team and understands that the way you deliver matters just as much as what you deliver.

What You Get in Return

This is where Lynch Brother Homes is different — and we have the retention to prove it.

A team that feels like family. Not as a recruitment line, but as a daily reality. Regular team lunches, genuine check-ins, a culture where people are valued as a matter of principle. It is the reason our people stay year after year and the reason our teams work so well together on site.

Training and development from day one. Every carpenter at Lynch Brother Homes receives all relevant training for their role as standard. We actively look for upskill opportunities that help you grow — whether that is within carpentry or towards a supervisory or foreman role. We have seen it happen and we have supported it every step of the way.

Real career progression. When you join Lynch Brother Homes, you can fully expect to move beyond your starting position. We promote from within and we invest in the people who show they want to grow. A carpentry role here is not a dead end — it is the start of wherever you want to take it.

Well-run sites across Oxfordshire. Clear programmes, proper materials, coordinated trades and a back-office team that has already solved the problems before they reach you. Our sites run the way construction should — on time, on budget and without the stress.

Local work. Every project is based in and around Oxford. No long commutes, no working away from home for months. You can build a career here without sacrificing everything outside of it.

This Role Is Right for You If

  • You are tired of poorly run sites, last-minute changes and being left without clear direction
  • You want to work for a company that values your skill and invests in your development
  • You take pride in quality and want to be surrounded by people who feel the same way
  • You are looking for stability, progression and a team that genuinely has your back
