A high-end new build project in Oxfordshire

Wayside House is a high-end new build in Kennington, the village the Lynch family knows best: Henry and John grew up here, and the family’s original firm is still based on Bagley Wood Road. The brief was a bespoke family home built from the ground up on a village plot, with Lynch Brother Homes as main contractor from groundworks through to handover. In the video above, Henry and John walk through the finished house themselves.

The gallery below follows the build through every stage. The house went up on piled foundations, with a blockwork inner leaf and brick outer skin, engineered floor joists spanning the first floor, and the roof felted and tiled from a full scaffold. Because Lynch Brother Homes managed the site as well as building it, one team carried the project from the first excavator on site to the final coat of paint — the same approach we bring to every new build in Oxfordshire.

The finished house pairs brick with natural stone under a clay-tiled roof, with an oak front door and a landscaped courtyard garden. It is one of two new homes we have completed in Kennington — the other is Sun and Abbey House — and anyone weighing us up as builders in Kennington can walk past both.
